Bike Teacher is an Independent Bicycle Mechanic School Located in San Jose, CA, Offering Beginner to Advanced Courses, Certifications, and Service Repairs.

Bike Teacher was founded in 2014 with the intent to create a professional-level, hands-on bike mechanic school for aspiring mechanics and bike fanatics. Featuring small class sizes, flexible scheduling, and a seasoned professional as your guide, Bike Teacher courses cover everything you need to know to set yourself up for a career in the bike industry, or a life of passionate tinkering.

Every Bike Teacher course involves a  personally-tailored learning environment, with the information presented in a way that best suits your learning style. Whether you’re just learning the foundations of bicycle systems or looking to master complex repairs, there is a Bike Teacher course for you.

Through experiential learning and individual feedback, Bike Teacher courses develop the skills you need to work on your own bike, and give you the best environment for retaining that knowledge. Using Arthur’s “Look, listen, feel” system, you’ll learn how to slow down, pay close attention, and accurately diagnose and fix issues on bicycles. Whether you’re looking to save money on repairs or create a new career for yourself, Bike Teacher is the best bicycle mechanic school in Northern California for jumpstarting your learning and empowering you to take repairs into your own hands.

Get a sense of the schedule

Your learning is a personal journey- schedule it when you want!

All Bike Teacher courses are able to be scheduled at your convenience, whether you’re a local or coming in from out of town. Most courses are 4 hours long, with the exception of the 40 and 70 hour certification courses. You can split courses into workable chunks for your schedule, or tackle them in one go. For the 40 and 70 hour courses, you can choose to spread the classes over a long period of time, or pack them into consecutive days if you’re coming in from out of town.

Classes are generally available to schedule M-F between 8:30 AM and 5 PM. Need to schedule something outside of normal hours? Just let us know, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs!

While Bike Teacher can provide a bike and necessary materials, you’re welcome to bring your own bike to work on. If you’re needing service, it’s possible to roll that into your course, and learn how to tackle it as you fix your own bike!

“I was self taught, like many mechanics, and was able to better grasp mechanics when I got my hands on things. Sometimes I broke them and made a mess, but I was always motivated to try again and master whatever skill I was working on. My classes use a hands-on approach, allowing you to cement the lessons in your mind through real trial and error. I want to challenge each person to explore, ask questions, and learn in the way that works best for them. Once you’ve gone through a Bike Teacher course, you’ll be able to apply the skills you’ve learned in any situation, even a real-life crisis!”
